Thanks for noticing my blog. I appreciate that.
Before you go on your trip I suggest you read the book "Southern Belly" by John T. Edge. It has all of the classic restaurants located in the South with the addresses and phone number.
For Example:
In Savannah, Ga. Desposito's
In Hattisburg, MS. Leatha's
In Clarksdale, MS. Oscar's Tamales
These are just a few of the places listed in the book. It even has some great places to go in New Orleans...I suggest you explore away from touristy places within reason as that is really where the gems are.
By the way, send me some pics....and visit Willie Mae's Scotch House there in New Orleans...they have the best fried chicken you ever eaten.
Have a great time!!!!

Ooooh I am visiting Mississippi for the first time ever in a few months. I am a New England, a true yankee, and I fell in love with New Orleans, Louisiana a few years ago. I go twice a year, at least. This trip we're going to check out bayou country and Miss. on day trips whilst we stay in the french quarter. Glad to find your blog. I love delta blues and southern cooking... it's exotic to a northerner like myself. And New Orleans cuisine is perfection to me. I am looking forward to trying some Miss. cooking soon. Will be going to Savannah and Atlanta Georgia soon too for the first time... yet another view to the south.
